The test results provided by the diagnostic laboratory of Finnzymes Oy are based on good laboratory practices and high-level quality control system compliant with ISO 9001 standard. The DNA identification and genetic tests are reliable and repeatable. However, all DNA tests contain a margin of error due to DNA testing procedure that includes several phases. Possible sources of error are poor sample quality, DNA test failure, and human error in sample handling or reporting. All efforts have been made in the laboratory to minimize such errors. Unexpected results may also be caused by errors in the tested animal's pedigree.
If test results prove to be incorrect, Finnzymes’ one year liability begins from the testing date and is limited to a refund or testing new samples free of charge. Finnzymes is not under any circumstances responsible for indirect or consequential costs and damages caused by a wrong test result or testing operations. Customer accepts these terms and assures that he is aware of the risks associated with the reliability of test results.
The diagnostic laboratory of Finnzymes Oy uses the following methods in canine DNA testing:
- DNA profile: DNA profile is based in determining genetic markers in individual’s DNA
- Parentage verification: The parentage test is based on excluding the possible wrong parents. The efficiency of exclusion-based test is >99%.
- vWD 1: DNA test is based on detecting the disease-causing mutation
- vWD 2: DNA test is based on detecting the disease-causing mutation
- PRA: DNA test is based on detecting the disease-causing mutation Cord1
