PathoProof Mastitis Symposium brought together many PathoProof users

June 2010. The first PathoProof Mastitis Symposium was successfully held in Riga, Latvia. The symposium was organized in parallel with the 37th ICAR Session and it brought together both the PathoProof users and other people interested in the product. The key presentations were given by three PathoProof user experts - Richard Cantin from CanWest DHI, Paul Burr from Biobest Laboratories and Jere High from Lancaster DHIA. The speakers shared their experiences on utilizing the PathoProof assay in their laboratories. Also the business point of view and customer satisfaction were widely discussed.

Finnzymes Diagnostics releases new PathoProof™ Mastitis Major-3 Kit for rapid detection of three highly contagious mastitis pathogens

January 2010. The PathoProof™ product family has expanded to include a new reagent kit for detection of the three contagious mastitis pathogens Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae and Mycoplasma bovis. For the first time in mastitis management, Mycoplasma bovis can now be detected in only four hours whereas conventional culturing takes 7-10 days. PathoProof™ Mastitis Major-3 Kit can be integrated into milk recording programs using bronopol-preserved milk. It also enables testing of bulk tank milk samples creating an efficient way to simultaneously screen an entire herd for contagious mastitis-causing bacteria.

CanWest DHI uses the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay to help Canadian dairy producers tackle mastitis

Mastitis continues to be the most significant disease of dairy cattle, costing the Canadian dairy industry millions of dollars annually. So it is no wonder that a new mastitis test being offered by CanWest DHI, which is based on Finnzymes' PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay, is generating a lot of interest. According to Richard Cantin, Director of Customer Service for DHI, convenience is the key selling point of this new service. “Sample collection for mastitis testing has always been time consuming and inconvenient which means it often didn’t get done. The fact that the DHI sample can now be used makes it incredibly convenient”. Read more

GD Deventer and Van Haeringen Laboratory begin routine use of the PathoProof™ Mastitis PCR Assay

The new service offering makes PCR-based mastitis testing available for all veterinarians and dairy producers in The Netherlands

The Dutch animal health service organization GD Deventer has announced that it will begin offering PCR-based mastitis testing services to all veterinarians and dairy producers in The Netherlands as of December 1st, 2008. The service offering is based on Finnzymes’ PathoProof™ Mastitis PCR Assay and the tests will be performed at Van Haeringen Laboratories (VHL). GD and VHL carried out extensive pilot studies where the performance of the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay was compared against the conventional bacterial culture. GD and VHL announced in a statement that the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay is more accurate, more sensitive, and significantly faster than the widely-used conventional bacterial culture test.

Finnzymes Diagnostics releases a real-time PCR based reagent kit for bovine mastitis testing

Finnzymes Diagnostics has released a Real-Time PCR based reagent kit for bovine mastitis testing. The test distinguishes 11 major mastitis species or species groups and the presence or absence of Staphylococcal penicillin resistance gene from milk in a total of only three hours. The PathoProof™ Mastitis PCR Assay is a revolutionary novel method to complement or to replace bacterial culture based testing schemes.
