Convenient test for quarter, DHI and bulk tank milk samples

The PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay is compatible with various milk samples. The PCR-based test identifies bacterial DNA and does not rely on the ability of bacteria to grow in the laboratory.

The PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay can be used for mastitis testing from quarter milk samples. The samples can be preserved with bronopol (or other milk preservatives), which eliminates bacterial growth during transportation. This enables shipment of samples at room temperature.

Milk recording samples that are analyzed for somatic cell count (SCC) and other milk parameters can now be used for mastitis testing. Traditionally this has not been possible because the samples contain preservatives. The fact that DHI (dairy herd improvement) samples can now be used makes mastitis testing incredibly convenient for the dairy producers.

The PathoProof Mastits PCR Assay also enables testing of bulk tank milk samples. This is an efficient way to simultaneously screen an entire herd for contagious mastitis pathogens such as Streptococcus agalactiae and Mycoplasma bovis.
