PathoProof™ Mastitis PCR Assay

Unparallelled sensitivity and specificity

The PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay identifies 11 main mastitis-causing bacterial species or species groups. In addition, the test detects the staphylococcal β-lactamase penicillin resistance gene.

In addition to identifying viable mastitis pathogens, the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay detects dead and growth-inhibited bacteria. This is a major advantage compared to the conventional bacterial culture method, where up to 40 % of "no growth" results are a problem for laboratories, veterinaries and dairy producers. For this same reason, the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay also provides sensitive results even during an antibiotic treatment or with bronopol-preserved milk samples.

100 % analytical specificity and sensitivity

Validation studies performed from well-characterized bacterial strains indicate 100 % analytical specificity and sensitivity for the assay, making it the most accurate mastitis test available.

Unlike with identification of bacterial colonies from culture plates, results interpretation with the assay is completely objective and allows all laboratories to reach the same very high level of accuracy.
