PathoProof™ Mastitis PCR Assay
From sample to results in four hours
The PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay is performed directly from milk samples. No bacterial culturing steps are required. The results are obtained in just four hours, with only two hours of hands-on time. As conventional bacterial culturing routinely take up to 48 hours, the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay gives significant time savings in mastitis testing.

1. |
DNA extraction
DNA of the bacteria present in bovine milk is isolated and purified. In this step, bacterial DNA is released by breaking the cells and purified from all other components in milk such as lipids, proteins and bacterial cell debris. The DNA extraction protocol of the PathoProof Mastitis PCR Assay has been developed for use with even the most difficult samples from cows having mastitis. |

DNA amplification
Bacterial DNA is amplified using real-time PCR. In this step, species-specific regions of DNA are simultaneously amplified and detected by a real-time PCR instrument. Read more... |
